school programme

Our school programme was built to cultivate creativity as a pillar of wellbeing, encourage connection with local communities and inspire students to think philanthropically through art.

Each student engages in our organisation’s core philosophies and mission statement, culminating in the creation of uniquely co-designed colouring book to be donated to a local hospital or group in need.

Key Outcomes:

  • To be equipped with creative thinking as a vehicle for their own health and well-being

  • Have a better grasp of the psychological and physiological benefits of art as determined by personal experience and science

  • Engage with creativity/art as a powerful connector and extend the gift of art exchange/therapeutic art to others

  • Imagine philanthropy as a tiered concept: kindness to oneself - kindness to family, friends - local charity outreach - global philanthropic commitments

Why now?

Social connection and creative expression are two basic human needs whose importance have been highlighted during the pandemic. As we slowly return to normal life, it is crucial that we hold on to the lessons learned over the past 20 months and continue to cultivate both creativity and connection to one another, understanding that they are key to our mental and physical wellbeing. The proposed educational programme has creativity and connection at its core.

International School of Geneva pilot programme

Between February and May 2021, we worked with sixteen pupils, aged 14-18 years old, from the International School of Geneva, forming our very first Educational Programme, in collaboration with Geneva based non-profit ‘Philanthropic Adventures’.

Each student engaged in our organisation’s core philosophies and mission statement, creating beautiful colour-in designs with the intention of providing therapeutic distraction and calm for children at the paediatric unit of Geneva’s University Hospitals.

The group went on to fundraise for these books to go to print - achieving an extraordinary total of 400 books to donate to paediatrics.

We are so proud of what this wonderful group has produced, and the heart that went into every drawing with the thought of bringing colourful joy and a feeling of connection to the Hospital experience.

what they had to say

  • “My experience with A Space Between and Philanthropic Adentures throughout this workshop was an outstanding and unique experience. Art is an extremely important element in my life and really keeps my head on top of my shoulders. With the help of this workshop, I managed to find and learn new aspects of how to enjoy art. What I loved the most with this experience is that the team always managed to push us and explore new ways on how to be connected more with our art and how to improve the message we convey through our art.”

    — Orson, age 15
student at the International School of Geneva

  • “Love, kindness, joy.

This is what we experience when we join the team of ‘A Space Between’.

This idea of offering books where children, or any people in need, can express themselves by art is just wonderful.

It brings people who created the drawings and those who will color them together, and it makes us reconnect with those emotions, and kind actions.

    Giving is what forms Happiness.

I am truly grateful to have had the chance to participate in this, to have been hopefully able to bring a smile, joy and a moment of relaxation to even one person.

Art liberates us, helps us dive and fly through our unique creativity which we all have, and which I believe is truly one of the key things for a healthy and happy life.

A big thanks to the three amazing women who created A Space Between, please continue to lead by kindness and peace as we need more people like this on Earth.”

    — Carla, age 18
student at the International School of Geneva

  • “When my art teacher mentioned this CAS project I immediately wanted to take part. Art has always helped me when going through hardships, and this gave me a chance to help others through my art. The ASB team was very welcoming and made this project enjoyable for all of us participating with their tips for fundraising and general encouragement.”
